From the East . . . Use Exit #29 from NYS Thruway (Canajoharie). Proceed westerly on NYS Route 5S about one half mile to traffic light (a "Dummy Light" on a cement bulwark). Turn right at the light onto NYS Route 10 North and cross the Mohawk River. At the traffic light on the northside of the river, turn left onto NYS Route 5 and proceed west through the Villages of Palatine Bridge and Nelliston about 9 miles. Fort Klock will be on the right hand side of the highway. Note that after leaving Nelliston you will see "Fort Waggoner" (home of LieutenantColonial Colonel Peter Waggoner) on the right-hand side about two miles west of Nelliston and then the Palatine Lutheran Church on the right just after crossing over the Caroga Creek. Both are pre-Revolutionary War Structures. You will also pass by, on the right, the beautiful farmstead of General James Cochran, an associate of General George Washington in the American Revolutionary struggle.

From the West . . . Use Exit #29A from the NYS Thruway about ten miles (Little Falls). Continue north from the toll-booth until you reach the traffic light (N.B. you will cross over the Mohawk River prior to reaching the light). At the light turn right onto NYS Route 5 East and proceed easterly through the Village of Saint Johnsville about 10 miles. Fort Klock will be on your right. Note that about one mile before reaching Fort Klock, you will pass the Nellis Tavern, an excellent example of late 18th Century architecture, on the right.
